Victory Point FX provided GIS data compilation, web server configuration, and web application services for the development of a web-based GIS viewer to showcase resource information (geology, infrastructure, environmental data, development processes, and economic studies) for the Inuvialuit Settlement Region in the NWT. The project involved application development of the online GIS, GIS data conversion and compilation, web server configuration, and search engine customization. The GIS features a large online GIS compilation and provides interactive tools to view, navigate, and manipulate the spatial to produce customized and highly detailed online maps.

The popular GIS featured a large compilation of digital data, satellite imagery, spatial and tabular navigation tools, and searchable documents, allowing data viewing and sharing of mineral development activities in the Coronation Gulf area.

Victory Point FX provided web configuration and programming services for the integration of Northern Minerals Database (NORMIN) references information with GeoConnections and Canadian Geoscience Knowledge Network (CGKN) discovery portals to provide searchable FGDC-compliant metadata. The discovery portals provide a centralized and standardized approach for the search and retrieval of geospatial metadata and related geospatial data sets accessible by clients over the Internet. The Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) clearinghouse model was implemented to link the NORMIN relational database environment to the discovery portals. NORMIN is a database of mineral showings, and a database of references to geology and mineral exploration in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut.

Victory Point FX developed a web application that allows Taiga clients to login and view analytical results data associated with their projects. The application communicates directly with the Taiga environmental database, provides a secure login and password screen, a search feature allowing clients to sort and filter data, and a reporting feature offering several predefined report formats. Taiga Environmental Laboratory provides analytical services on water, soil, and biological samples.

Victory Point FX provided GIS and programming services for the development of a spatial query tool to assist ADNT with the review of land use applications by automatically analyzing spatial impacts and relationships for a proposed land use activity. The Spatial Query Tool, distributed as an ArcView GIS Extension, performs spatial analysis on a proponent’s application footprint against a series of thematic spatial layers (e.g., watersheds, ecoregions, soils, vegetation, timber, wildlife habitat, and bedrock geology). Predefined spatial rules, customized by the user, determine the type and amount of spatial analysis to be done. Spatial relationships used in the analysis include containment, proximity, and adjacency. Based on the results for a proposed site, a detailed report and a series of impact maps are automatically generated for the user and saved under the application name.
