Victory Point FX provided services for the digital conversion and GIS compilation of a comprehensive wildlife assessment map collection compiled by Dr. Norm Simmons, a biologist with Natural Resources Canada, throughout the 1960s and 1970s. The project involved scanning hundreds of archival maps, many on clear mylar overlays; digitizing all wildlife sightings and associated field data and notes; and compiling all data into a distributable GIS collection. The collection is important for GIS analysis and mapping in support of protected area projects related to woodland caribou, grizzly bear, and Dall’s Sheep research in the Mackenzie Mountains.
The digitized data was amalgamated into 9 thematic maps as follows.
