Victory Point FX provided 3D modeling and bathymetry analysis expertise to study potential draft constraints associated with transporting a barge-mounted gas conditioning facility into position at the Niglintgak Gas Field in the Mackenzie Delta. The work involved establishing a digital bathymetric baseline, creating a 3D digital bathymetric surface for the proposed routes, generating 3D water surface levels, and analyzing draft constraints (points of collision between the barge and river bottom) as computer-generated models of the barge and tugboats progressed along each proposed route. Areas where barge draft could be constrained were identified and volumes calculated in an effort to better predict successful routes and derive potential dredging scenarios. Results on the 3D analysis were compiled and distributed in 3D GIS formats and animations on CD.
